Job Title:   Technical Writer

Role:

The role will be responsible for developing comprehensive documentation, by obtaining a deep understanding of our solution offerings and translate complex information into simple, polished, and engaging content for a wide range of stakeholders. Reporting to our LMS Project Manager and LOB teams, this role works as part of the Digital Experience team and will act as the product champion for internal and external customers.

Must have healthcare Payer industry experience

Responsibilities:

  • Communicate and collaborate with other functional teams to ensure a frictionless user experience and continuous improvement of deliverables.

  • Work with internal teams to obtain an in-depth understanding of the product and the documentation requirements:

  • Developing training material and documentation in consultation with key stakeholders and project team members.

  • Develop templates, style guides and guidelines that are in alignment with the government’s overarching style guidelines.

  • Generate the necessary document templates to ensure a consistent document standard is established and maintained across platforms and media; Collaborating with the immediate development team and product specialists to gather essential product information and ensure you are meeting all training and documentation requirements.

  • Writing user documentation in MadCap for new features being developed by technology teams: Identifying what the feature does and how it works Collaborate with Business Analysts, Solution Leads and other SMEs to understand, discuss and gather technically complex product information content Writing user guide page content and taking screenshots Manage updates and revisions to technical literature Arranging review, making any corrections, and getting a sign-off

  • Adhere to all standards, guidelines, single-sourcing and best practices to be able to scale Analyse existing and potential content, focusing on reuse and single-sourcing opportunities Edit material prepared by other writers or staff to ensure that documentation adheres to the styles, fonts, colors and format.

  • Work closely with the Training and Solution teams to assist and support planning, scheduling and tracking of documentation to meet product release dates and project deliverables.

  • Maintain a library of application documentation, cataloguing it for internal use in line with procedures Other ad hoc duties as required.

Requirements:

  • The successful candidate will have strong interpersonal communication and time management skills, including skills in assertively managing outcomes for yourself and others, within prescribed timeframes:

  • Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline such as Computer Science, IT or Engineering and at least 5 years’ experience in a technical writer role, preferably within the IT industry or other technical environment

  • Proven experience as a technical writer, preferably detailing technology infrastructure concepts and designs within the IT sector Excellent technical writing skills, with a strong attention to detail, and an ability to make sophisticated topics clear and engaging.

  • Ability to convert technical procedures/product information into an easily consumable format for internal and external customers

  • High attention for detail to ensure that all documentation is detailed and precise so that it is instructive and useful Strong knowledge of IT concepts and processes Knowledge in HTML and CSS, and excellent editing skills.

  • Experience creating a variety of documentation types including processes flows, procedures, manuals.

  • Creative skills and usage of photographs, drawings, diagrams, animation, and charts that increase users’ understanding

  • Experience in working with SaaS solutions
